Surah Abasaسورة عبس

عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ﴿١﴾

80:1 He frowned and turned away

أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ ﴿٢﴾

80:2 when the blind man came to him

وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ ﴿٣﴾

80:3 How would you know? Perhaps he might be purified

أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ ﴿٤﴾

80:4 or he might take heed and benefit from the reminder

أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴿٥﴾

80:5 But he who was indifferent

فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ ﴿٦﴾

80:6 you give him your full attention

وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ ﴿٧﴾

80:7 although you are not to be blamed if he does not purify himself

وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ ﴿٨﴾

80:8 But as for the one who came to you striving [for purification]

وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ ﴿٩﴾

80:9 and he fears Allah

فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ ﴿١٠﴾

80:10 you let yourself to be distracted from him

كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ ﴿١١﴾

80:11 No indeed; this is a reminder –

فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ﴿١٢﴾

80:12 so whoever wills may give heed to it –

فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ ﴿١٣﴾

80:13 on venerable pages

مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ ﴿١٤﴾

80:14 exalted and purified

بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ ﴿١٥﴾

80:15 [preserved] in the hands of angel-scribes

كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ ﴿١٦﴾

80:16 honorable and obedient

قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾

80:17 Woe to man; how ungrateful he is

مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ﴿١٨﴾

80:18 From what did He create him

مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ ﴿١٩﴾

80:19 He created him from a drop of semen and proportioned him

ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ ﴿٢٠﴾

80:20 then He made the way easy for him

ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ ﴿٢١﴾

80:21 then He caused him to die and be buried

ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ ﴿٢٢﴾

80:22 then when He wills, He will resurrect him

كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ ﴿٢٣﴾

80:23 Yet he has not fulfilled what He commanded him

فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ﴿٢٤﴾

80:24 Let man consider the food he eats

أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا ﴿٢٥﴾

80:25 How We poured down rainwater in torrents

ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا ﴿٢٦﴾

80:26 and caused the soil to split open [for sprouts]

فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا ﴿٢٧﴾

80:27 and cause grains to grow in it

وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا ﴿٢٨﴾

80:28 as well as grapes and fodder

وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا ﴿٢٩﴾

80:29 and olive trees and date palms

وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا ﴿٣٠﴾

80:30 and dense orchards

وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا ﴿٣١﴾

80:31 and fruits and grass

مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ ﴿٣٢﴾

80:32 as provision for you and your livestock

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ ﴿٣٣﴾

80:33 But when the Deafening Blast comes

يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ ﴿٣٤﴾

80:34 on that Day everyone will flee from his sibling

وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ ﴿٣٥﴾

80:35 and from his mother and father

وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ ﴿٣٦﴾

80:36 and from his wife and children

لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ ﴿٣٧﴾

80:37 On that day, everyone will have enough concern of his own

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ ﴿٣٨﴾

80:38 On that Day, some faces will be bright

ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ ﴿٣٩﴾

80:39 cheerful and rejoicing

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

80:40 while other faces will be dust-stained

تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ﴿٤١﴾

80:41 covered in darkness

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ ﴿٤٢﴾

80:42 Such are the disbelievers, the wicked
