Surah Al-Fajrسورة الفجر

وَٱلْفَجْرِ ﴿١﴾

89:1 By the dawn

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ ﴿٢﴾

89:2 and the ten nights

وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ ﴿٣﴾

89:3 and the even and the odd

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ ﴿٤﴾

89:4 and by the night when it comes

هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ ﴿٥﴾

89:5 are these oaths not sufficient for those who have sense

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ ﴿٦﴾

89:6 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ‘Ād

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ ﴿٧﴾

89:7 of Iram, who were people of great stature

ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ ﴿٨﴾

89:8 the like of whom had never been created in the land

وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ ﴿٩﴾

89:9 and Thamūd, who carved out the rocks in the Valley

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ ﴿١٠﴾

89:10 and the mighty and powerful Pharaoh

ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ ﴿١١﴾

89:11 All of them transgressed in the land

فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ ﴿١٢﴾

89:12 and spread therein much corruption

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ ﴿١٣﴾

89:13 so your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ ﴿١٤﴾

89:14 Indeed, your Lord is ever vigilant

فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ ﴿١٥﴾

89:15 As for man, when he is tested by his Lord by honoring him and bestowing blessings upon him, he says, “My Lord has [deservedly] honored me!”

وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ ﴿١٦﴾

89:16 But when he is tested by restricting his provision, he says, “My Lord has [undeservedly] humiliated me!”

كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ ﴿١٧﴾

89:17 No indeed! You are not kind to the orphan

وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ ﴿١٨﴾

89:18 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy

وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا ﴿١٩﴾

89:19 and you greedily consume the entire inheritance

وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا ﴿٢٠﴾

89:20 and love wealth immensely

كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا ﴿٢١﴾

89:21 No indeed! When the earth is crushed over and over

وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا ﴿٢٢﴾

89:22 and your Lord comes with the angels, rank after rank

وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ ﴿٢٣﴾

89:23 and Hell is brought near on that Day – this is when man will understand, but what is the use of that understanding

يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى ﴿٢٤﴾

89:24 He will say, “Would that I had sent forth something for my [eternal] life!”

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ ﴿٢٥﴾

89:25 None can punish as He punishes on that Day

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ ﴿٢٦﴾

89:26 and none can bind as He binds

يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ ﴿٢٧﴾

89:27 [It will be said to the believer,] “O the tranquil soul

ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً ﴿٢٨﴾

89:28 Return to your Lord, well pleased and pleasing [to Him]

فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى ﴿٢٩﴾

89:29 Join My [righteous] slaves

وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى ﴿٣٠﴾

89:30 and enter My Paradise.”
