Surah Al-Ghashiyahسورة الغاشية

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ ﴿١﴾

88:1 Has there come to you the story of the Overwhelming Event

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ ﴿٢﴾

88:2 On that Day, some faces will be humiliated

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ﴿٣﴾

88:3 toiling and weary

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً ﴿٤﴾

88:4 as they burn in a scorching Fire

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ ﴿٥﴾

88:5 They will be made to drink from a boiling spring

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ ﴿٦﴾

88:6 and they will have no food except bitter thorny plants

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ ﴿٧﴾

88:7 that neither nourishes nor satisfies hunger

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ ﴿٨﴾

88:8 Other faces on that Day will be joyful

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ ﴿٩﴾

88:9 well-pleased with their past striving

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ﴿١٠﴾

88:10 in an elevated garden

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً ﴿١١﴾

88:11 wherein no idle talk will be heard

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ ﴿١٢﴾

88:12 There will be a flowing spring

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ ﴿١٣﴾

88:13 and couches raised high

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ ﴿١٤﴾

88:14 and cups placed ready

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ﴿١٥﴾

88:15 and cushions lined up

وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ﴿١٦﴾

88:16 and splendid carpets spread out

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ ﴿١٧﴾

88:17 Do they not reflect on the camel, how it is created

وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ ﴿١٨﴾

88:18 and the sky, how it is raised high

وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ ﴿١٩﴾

88:19 and the mountains, how they are firmly set up

وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ ﴿٢٠﴾

88:20 and the earth, how it is spread out

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ ﴿٢١﴾

88:21 So remind [O Prophet]; your duty is only to remind

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ ﴿٢٢﴾

88:22 you are not assigned to compel them

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ﴿٢٣﴾

88:23 But whoever turns away and disbelieves

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ ﴿٢٤﴾

88:24 Allah will inflict upon him the greatest punishment

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ ﴿٢٥﴾

88:25 Indeed, to Us is their return

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم ﴿٢٦﴾

88:26 then it is for Us to call them to account
