Surah Al-Waqiahسورة الواقعة

إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ ﴿١﴾

56:1 When the Inevitable Event comes to pass

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ﴿٢﴾

56:2 there will be none to deny its occurrence

خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ ﴿٣﴾

56:3 it will bring some low and raise others up

إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا ﴿٤﴾

56:4 When the earth will be shaken violently

وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا ﴿٥﴾

56:5 and the mountains crushed to pieces

فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا ﴿٦﴾

56:6 and turn to scattered dust

وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ثَلَـٰثَةً ﴿٧﴾

56:7 then you are sorted into three groups

فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ﴿٨﴾

56:8 the people of the right – how blessed will be the people of the right

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ ﴿٩﴾

56:9 The people of the left – how miserable will be the people of the left

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ﴿١٠﴾

56:10 And the forerunners [in faith] are the forerunners [in Paradise]

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ﴿١١﴾

56:11 They are the nearest ones [to Allah]

فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿١٢﴾

56:12 in Gardens of Bliss

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿١٣﴾

56:13 many from the early generations

وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ﴿١٤﴾

56:14 and a few from the later generations

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ ﴿١٥﴾

56:15 [They will be seated] on jeweled couches

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ ﴿١٦﴾

56:16 reclining on them, facing one another

يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ ﴿١٧﴾

56:17 They will be served by immortal youths

بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ ﴿١٨﴾

56:18 with cups, pitchers, and glasses [of wine] from a flowing spring

لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ ﴿١٩﴾

56:19 which will neither cause any headache nor intoxication

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ ﴿٢٠﴾

56:20 along with fruits of their choice

وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ﴿٢١﴾

56:21 and flesh of birds that they may desire

وَحُورٌ عِينٌ ﴿٢٢﴾

56:22 And [they will have] maidens of wide gorgeous eyes

كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ ﴿٢٣﴾

56:23 like pristine pearls

جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿٢٤﴾

56:24 as a reward for what they used to do

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا ﴿٢٥﴾

56:25 They will not hear therein any idle talk or sinful speech

إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَـٰمًا سَلَـٰمًا ﴿٢٦﴾

56:26 except the words of peace, peace

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٢٧﴾

56:27 The people of the right – how blessed will be the people of the right

فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ ﴿٢٨﴾

56:28 [They will be] amid thornless lote trees

وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ ﴿٢٩﴾

56:29 and clusters of bananas

وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ ﴿٣٠﴾

56:30 and shade long-extended

وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ ﴿٣١﴾

56:31 and flowing water

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ ﴿٣٢﴾

56:32 and abundant fruit –

لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ﴿٣٣﴾

56:33 neither ceasing nor restricted –

وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ ﴿٣٤﴾

56:34 and mattresses raised high [on beds]

إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً ﴿٣٥﴾

56:35 Indeed, We have perfectly created them [their spouses]

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا ﴿٣٦﴾

56:36 and have made them virgins

عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا ﴿٣٧﴾

56:37 loving and of equal age

لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٣٨﴾

56:38 for the people of the right

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿٣٩﴾

56:39 many from the earlier generations

وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ﴿٤٠﴾

56:40 and many from the later generations

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ ﴿٤١﴾

56:41 And the people of the left – how wretched will be the people of the left

فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ ﴿٤٢﴾

56:42 [They will be] in scorching wind and scalding water

وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ ﴿٤٣﴾

56:43 in the shade of black smoke

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ ﴿٤٤﴾

56:44 neither cool nor refreshing

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾

56:45 Indeed, they used to be in luxuries before

وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴿٤٦﴾

56:46 and persisted in the gravest sin [of polytheism]

وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

56:47 They used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, will we really be raised again

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ﴿٤٨﴾

56:48 And our forefathers as well?”

قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾

56:49 Say, [O Prophet], “Indeed, the former and later generations

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ﴿٥٠﴾

56:50 will be gathered on a predetermined Day

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿٥١﴾

56:51 Then you, O misguided deniers

لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ ﴿٥٢﴾

56:52 will surely eat from the tree of zaqqūm

فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ ﴿٥٣﴾

56:53 filling your bellies with it

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ﴿٥٤﴾

56:54 and drinking scalding water on top of it

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ ﴿٥٥﴾

56:55 drinking like thirsty camels do.”

هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿٥٦﴾

56:56 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ ﴿٥٧﴾

56:57 It is We Who created you; will you not then believe [in resurrection]

أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ ﴿٥٨﴾

56:58 Have you thought about the semen that you emit

ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ ﴿٥٩﴾

56:59 Is it you who create it, or is it We Who are the Creators

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ﴿٦٠﴾

56:60 We have ordained death among you, and nothing can overcome us

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٦١﴾

56:61 from transforming you and recreating you in forms that you do not know

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿٦٢﴾

56:62 You are well aware of the first creation; why do you not then take heed

أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ ﴿٦٣﴾

56:63 Have you thought about what you sow

ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ ﴿٦٤﴾

56:64 Is it you who cause it grow, or is it We Who make it grow

لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ ﴿٦٥﴾

56:65 If We willed, We could reduce your harvest to crumble, leaving you to wonder and lament

إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ ﴿٦٦﴾

56:66 “We suffered loss

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ﴿٦٧﴾

56:67 rather, we are deprived.”

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ ﴿٦٨﴾

56:68 Have you thought about the water that you drink

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ ﴿٦٩﴾

56:69 Is it you who bring it down from the clouds, or is it We Who bring it down

لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ ﴿٧٠﴾

56:70 If We willed, We could make it salty; will you not then give thanks

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ ﴿٧١﴾

56:71 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ ﴿٧٢﴾

56:72 Is it you who produced its trees, or is it We Who produced it

نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَـٰعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ ﴿٧٣﴾

56:73 We made it a reminder [of the Hellfire] and a benefit for the travelers

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴿٧٤﴾

56:74 So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great

۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ ﴿٧٥﴾

56:75 I do swear by the positions of the stars –

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ ﴿٧٦﴾

56:76 and this is indeed a great oath, if only you knew –

إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿٧٧﴾

56:77 that this is indeed a noble Qur’an

فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مَّكْنُونٍ ﴿٧٨﴾

56:78 in a well-preserved Record

لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ ﴿٧٩﴾

56:79 that none can touch except the purified [angels] –

تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٨٠﴾

56:80 a revelation from the Lord of the worlds

أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ ﴿٨١﴾

56:81 Do you take this discourse lightly

وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿٨٢﴾

56:82 and instead [of thanking Allah] for the provision you are given, you show ingratitude

فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ ﴿٨٣﴾

56:83 Then why [you are helpless] when the soul reaches the throat

وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ ﴿٨٤﴾

56:84 while you are looking on

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٨٥﴾

56:85 when We are closer to him than you, but you do not see

فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ ﴿٨٦﴾

56:86 If you are not subject to retribution, then why do you not

تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿٨٧﴾

56:87 bring that [soul] back, if you are truthful

فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ ﴿٨٨﴾

56:88 If that dying person is one of those who will be brought near to Allah

فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ ﴿٨٩﴾

56:89 then [he will have] comfort, fragrance, and Garden of Bliss

وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٩٠﴾

56:90 If he is one of the people of the right

فَسَلَـٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٩١﴾

56:91 [He will be told], “Peace be to you, for being one of the people of the right.”

وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ ﴿٩٢﴾

56:92 But if he is one of the misguided deniers

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ ﴿٩٣﴾

56:93 then he will be welcomed with scalding water

وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ ﴿٩٤﴾

56:94 and he will burn in Blazing Fire

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿٩٥﴾

56:95 This is indeed the absolute truth

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴿٩٦﴾

56:96 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great
