Surah Ad-Dukhanسورة الدخان

حمٓ ﴿١﴾

44:1 Hā Mīm

وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ﴿٢﴾

44:2 By the clear Book

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ ﴿٣﴾

44:3 Indeed, We sent it down on a blessed night, for We give warning

فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ ﴿٤﴾

44:4 On that night, every matter of wisdom is determined

أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ ﴿٥﴾

44:5 by Our command. We have always sent messengers

رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ﴿٦﴾

44:6 as a mercy from your Lord. He is indeed the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing

رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ ﴿٧﴾

44:7 Lord of the heavens and earth and all that is between them, if only you had sure faith

لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿٨﴾

44:8 None has the right to be worshiped except Him, Who gives life and causes death – your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers

بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ ﴿٩﴾

44:9 But they are in doubt, amusing themselves

فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ﴿١٠﴾

44:10 So wait for a day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke

يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿١١﴾

44:11 that will overwhelm the people. This is a painful punishment

رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿١٢﴾

44:12 [They will cry,] “Our Lord, remove the punishment from us; we will surely believe!”

أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ ﴿١٣﴾

44:13 How will they take heed, when a messenger who explained things clearly has already come to them

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ ﴿١٤﴾

44:14 Then they turned away from him and said, “[He is] a madman, taught by others.”

إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ ﴿١٥﴾

44:15 We shall hold the punishment back for a while, but you will surely return [to disbelief]

يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ ﴿١٦﴾

44:16 On the Day when We seize [them] with the greatest assault, We will surely exact retribution

۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿١٧﴾

44:17 Indeed, We tested the people of Pharaoh before them, when a noble messenger came to them

أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ﴿١٨﴾

44:18 [saying], “Hand over to me the slaves of Allah. I am indeed a trustworthy messenger to you

وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ ﴿١٩﴾

44:19 and do not be arrogant towards Allah. I have certainly come to you with a clear proof

وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ ﴿٢٠﴾

44:20 And I certainly seek refuge with my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me to death

وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ ﴿٢١﴾

44:21 If you do not believe me, then leave me alone.”

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ ﴿٢٢﴾

44:22 Then he called upon his Lord, “These are a wicked people”

فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

44:23 [Allah said], “Leave along with My slaves by night; you will surely be pursued

وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ ﴿٢٤﴾

44:24 And leave the sea parted; for they are surely an army destined to drown.”

كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ﴿٢٥﴾

44:25 [Imagine] how many gardens and springs they left behind

وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ ﴿٢٦﴾

44:26 and crops and splendid mansions

وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهِينَ ﴿٢٧﴾

44:27 and luxuries they used to rejoice therein

كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ ﴿٢٨﴾

44:28 So it was; and We made another people inherit all that

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ ﴿٢٩﴾

44:29 Neither the heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they given any respite

وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ ﴿٣٠﴾

44:30 Thus did We save the Children of Israel from the humiliating punishment

مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ ﴿٣١﴾

44:31 from Pharaoh. He was indeed arrogant who transgressed all bounds

وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٣٢﴾

44:32 We chose them with knowledge above all others

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَـٰٓؤٌا۟ مُّبِينٌ ﴿٣٣﴾

44:33 And We gave them signs in which there was a clear test

إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ ﴿٣٤﴾

44:34 Indeed, these [Makkans] say

إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ ﴿٣٥﴾

44:35 “There is nothing after our first death, and we will not be resurrected

فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿٣٦﴾

44:36 then bring back our forefathers if you are truthful.”

أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ ﴿٣٧﴾

44:37 Are they better [in power] or the people of Tubba‘ and those who were before them? We destroyed them, for they were truly wicked

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ ﴿٣٨﴾

44:38 We have not created the heavens and earth and all that is between them for amusement

مَا خَلَقْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾

44:39 We have not created them except for a true purpose, but most of them do not know

إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَـٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ﴿٤٠﴾

44:40 Indeed, the Day of Judgment is the time appointed for them all

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ ﴿٤١﴾

44:41 the Day when no friend will avail another in the least, nor will they be helped

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ﴿٤٢﴾

44:42 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ﴿٤٣﴾

44:43 Indeed, the tree of Zaqqūm

طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ ﴿٤٤﴾

44:44 will be the food of the sinful

كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ ﴿٤٥﴾

44:45 like molten metal that will boil in their bellies

كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ﴿٤٦﴾

44:46 like the boiling of scalding water

خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ﴿٤٧﴾

44:47 [It will be said], “Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire

ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ﴿٤٨﴾

44:48 Then pour over his head the torment of scalding water.”

ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ ﴿٤٩﴾

44:49 “Taste this. You are surely the mighty and honorable

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ ﴿٥٠﴾

44:50 This is what you [all] used to doubt.”

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ ﴿٥١﴾

44:51 Indeed, the righteous will be in a safe place

فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ﴿٥٢﴾

44:52 in gardens and springs

يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ ﴿٥٣﴾

44:53 wearing fine silk and heavy brocade, facing one another

كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ ﴿٥٤﴾

44:54 So it will be, and We will marry them to maidens with gorgeous eyes

يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ ﴿٥٥﴾

44:55 They will call therein for every kind of fruit, safe and secure

لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ﴿٥٦﴾

44:56 They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will protect them from the punishment of the Blazing Fire

فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ﴿٥٧﴾

44:57 as a grace from your Lord. That is the supreme triumph

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿٥٨﴾

44:58 We have made this [Qur’an] easy in your own language, so that they may take heed

فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ ﴿٥٩﴾

44:59 Then wait; they too are waiting
