Surah Al-Mutaffifinسورة المطففين

وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ ﴿١﴾

83:1 Woe to the defrauders

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ ﴿٢﴾

83:2 those who take full measure when they take from others

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ ﴿٣﴾

83:3 but they give less when they measure or weigh for them

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ ﴿٤﴾

83:4 Do they really not think that they will be resurrected

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ﴿٥﴾

83:5 for a momentous Day

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٦﴾

83:6 a Day when people will stand before the Lord of the worlds

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ ﴿٧﴾

83:7 No indeed! The record of the wicked is surely in Sijjīn

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ ﴿٨﴾

83:8 How do you know what Sijjīn is

كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ﴿٩﴾

83:9 It is a clearly inscribed Record

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿١٠﴾

83:10 Woe on that Day to the deniers

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿١١﴾

83:11 those who deny the Judgment Day

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ﴿١٢﴾

83:12 None denies it except every sinful transgressor

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿١٣﴾

83:13 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, “Ancient fables!”

كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ﴿١٤﴾

83:14 No indeed! Their hearts have been stained by what they used to commit

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ ﴿١٥﴾

83:15 No indeed! On that Day they will be barred from seeing their Lord

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ﴿١٦﴾

83:16 They will then surely enter the Blazing Fire

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿١٧﴾

83:17 then they will be told, “This is what you used to deny.”

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ ﴿١٨﴾

83:18 No indeed! The record of the righteous is certainly in ‘illiyyīn –

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ ﴿١٩﴾

83:19 and how do you know what ‘illiyyūn is? –

كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ﴿٢٠﴾

83:20 It is a record inscribed

يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ﴿٢١﴾

83:21 witnessed by those who are close to Allah

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ ﴿٢٢﴾

83:22 Indeed, the righteous will be in Bliss

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

83:23 seated on the couches, gazing in wonder

تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿٢٤﴾

83:24 You will see on their faces the radiance of bliss

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ ﴿٢٥﴾

83:25 They will be served to drink pure wine from a sealed container

خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ ﴿٢٦﴾

83:26 whose last sip is musk – let those who strive, strive for that –

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ ﴿٢٧﴾

83:27 and it will be mixed with water from the spring of Tasnīm

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾

83:28 a spring from which those who are close to Allah will drink

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾

83:29 Indeed, the wicked used to laugh at the believers

وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾

83:30 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another

وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ ﴿٣١﴾

83:31 and when they went back to their people, they would return exulting

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ ﴿٣٢﴾

83:32 When they saw the believers, they would say, “These people are truly misguided,”

وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ ﴿٣٣﴾

83:33 although they were not sent as their keepers

فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ ﴿٣٤﴾

83:34 So Today the believers will laugh at the disbelievers

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾

83:35 while sitting on the couches, gazing around

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾

83:36 Have the disbelievers been rewarded except for what they used to do
